FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth police have fatally shot an armed intruder they confronted during a call about gunfire at a home.

Sgt. Steve Enright says the suspect shot at officers early Wednesday before police returned fire.

No officers were hurt. A resident who was shot by the suspect was treated for a hand wound.

Police say the incident began when the resident found the armed man inside his home and they began to fight. The victim was shot, then ran out the front door.

Fort Worth police say the suspect went out the back door, circled to the front and then fired at the victim and officers.

Two officers returned fire, killing the suspect.

Both officers have been placed on administrative leave amid a review of the shootings.
