Orange County junior high teacher charged with sexually assaulting 3 teenage boys

FULLERTON, California — Authorities say an Orange County teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting and sending sexually oriented messages to three teenage boys.

The Orange County District Attorney's Office said Tuesday that Melissa Nicole Lindgren of La Mirada faces five counts of lewd acts on a child, two counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 and three counts of distributing pornography to minors.

If convicted of all counts, she could be sentenced to more than 16 years in prison.

Lindgren, who is free on $100,000 bail, is to be arraigned Wednesday.

Authorities say the 28-year-old math teacher met the students through the junior high school where she worked. They ranged in age from 13 to 15.

She was arrested after one of the boys went to authorities.
