3-year-old boy hit, killed by vehicle in Gypsum; no charges expected against driver

VAIL, Colorado — Authorities say a 3-year-old boy was killed when he was hit by a vehicle in a residential neighborhood in Gypsum.

Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis tells The Vail Daily (http://bit.ly/1D2efa6 ) that Nathan Pineda was killed instantly when he was hit near his Buckhorn Valley home Tuesday evening.

The child was in the street when he was struck, and the Eagle County Sheriff's Office says no criminal charges are expected against the driver.

Gypsum is about 30 miles west of Vail.
