Benton City woman pleads guilty to manslaughter in drowning death of daughter in bathtub

KENNEWICK, Washington — A Benton City woman who was in another room working on a computer when her 1-year-old daughter died in the bathtub pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree manslaughter.

KONA reports Benton County prosecutors are recommending 12 months in jail for Wendi Finkbeiner-Setzer when she is sentenced June 6.

Investigators said Finkbeiner-Setzer left 1-year-old Piper and her 2-year-old sister alone in the tub last November. The mother thought they were alone for no more than five minutes.

They were found by a teen-age brother who arrived home. The baby died a week later when she was taken off life support.
