Marlins recall INF Adeiny Hechavarria, OF Matt Diaz

PHILADELPHIA — The Miami Marlins have recalled outfielder Matt Diaz from Triple-A New Orleans and activated infielder Adeiny Hechavarria from the 15-day disabled list.

Nick Green was designated for assignment and left-hander Brad Hand was optioned to New Orleans to make room on the roster. The moves were announced Thursday before the opener of a four-game series at Philadelphia.

Hechavarria missed the last two weeks with a right elbow contusion. Diaz batted .341 with four doubles, two homers and 10 RBIs in 23 games at New Orleans.
