Billings man sentenced for hitting pedestrian while driving drunk

BILLINGS, Mont. — A 41-year-old Billings man who pleaded guilty to driving drunk and hitting a pedestrian last November has been sentenced to three years in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Luther Laroy Mill pleaded guilty in January to felony criminal endangerment for striking a Billings Gazette (http://bit.ly/Jylv6m ) newspaper carrier.

District Judge Russell Fagg sentenced Mill on Tuesday to five years with the Department of Corrections with two suspended on the endangerment charge and a year in jail with all but 48 hours suspended for misdemeanor aggravated driving under the influence.

Mill's plea agreement called for a deferred sentence if he completed the Impaired Driving Court treatment program, but a Yellowstone County prosecutor said Mill did not complete the program.
