Man charged after teen wounded by gunfire near Albany landfill

COLONIE, New York — Police say a 27-year-old man is in custody after a teenager was wounded by gunfire near the landfill in suburban Albany.

Colonie police tell local media outlets that 18-year-old Kyle Cross was walking through an undeveloped area shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday when he was shot by someone he recognized. The man drove off in a landscaping truck.

Cross suffered several bullet wounds and was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he is recovering after surgery.

Police located the landscaping truck and the suspect, Daniel Clark, close to where the shooting occurred. He was arraigned Sunday morning on a charge of first-degree assault and sent to the Albany County Jail without bail.

It could not be determined if he has a lawyer.
