Phoenix police identify man fatally shot by officer; reportedly pointed gun at officers

PHOENIX — Phoenix police have identified a man fatally shot by a police officer after reportedly pointing a handgun at officers

Police said the man shot Saturday was 29-year-old Adam O'Neal Reinhart.

According to police, the incident began around 1:30 p.m. when officers went to the area of Palm Lane and 18th Street because a man was reported to be behaving strangely in the street and in danger of being struck by vehicles.

Police said the officers tried to make contact with Reinhart and that one officer shot Reinhart with a rifle when he pulled a gun from his waistband and aimed it at officers.
