Massachusetts reports more than 10K jobs added in June, unemployment rate unchanged

BOSTON — State officials say preliminary estimates show Massachusetts gained 10,500 jobs in June while the state's overall unemployment rate held steady at 4.6 percent.

The office of Labor and Workforce Development also said Thursday that Massachusetts has now posted ten consecutive months of jobs growth, and that nearly 40,000 jobs have been added over the last four months.

However, the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics has revised downward its employment growth figure for May, saying the state picked up 5,200 jobs instead of the previous estimate of 7,400 jobs.

The Massachusetts unemployment rate in June was .07 percent lower than the U.S. rate of 5.3 percent.
