ATLANTA — The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm warning for parts of north central Georgia.

Georgia Power is reporting more than 31,000 customers are without power, and the Atlanta Public School district has cancelled all after-school activities for the day.

Forecasters say a severe thunderstorm passing through the area could produce large hail, damaging winds and frequent cloud to ground lightning.

The warning is scheduled to end at 3:45 p.m. for DeKalb, Gwinnett and Rockdale counties. A warning for Gwinnett, Rockdale and Walton counties is scheduled to end at 4 p.m.
