FULLERTON, California — Michael Williams scored 28 points as Cal State Fullerton defeated Long Beach State 84-76 on Saturday night.
Cal State Fullerton hit 56.4 percent from the field overall and 48.4 percent from the line.
Long Beach State led 38-35 at the break but SC Fullerton went 19-10 to start the second half and lead 54-48 with 14:25 remaining. A 12-3 run midway extended the Titans' lead to 15 points, 74-59, with 6:40 left. From there, the 49ers did not recover, despite a jumper by A.J. Spencer and a layup by Michael Caffey in the final 30 seconds.
LBSU committed 16 turnovers during the contest but outrebounded the Titans 45-27. Caffey led the 49ers (13-15, 9-5) with 22 points. Dan Jennings and Tyler Lamb added 13 points apiece.
