The Bundesliga club says Reus will be sidelined around two weeks after tearing a muscle in his right thigh, while Bender will likely miss a week with a strain in his right thigh.
Dortmund defender Mats Hummels was already sidelined for two weeks with a strain in his right foot, sustained shortly after he came back from a knee injury, while midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski and defender Neven Subotic are both out to the end of the season. Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is yet to recover from back problems.
Dortmund plays at Zenit St. Petersburg in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie on Feb. 25.
