Syracuse police investigating downtown murder of 25-year-old man

SYRACUSE, New York — Syracuse Police are investigating the murder of a 25-year-old man who was gunned down outside an apartment building downtown.

Officers were dispatched to the scene around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday after a report of several shots being fired. The victim was transported by ambulance to nearby Upstate University Hospital in critical condition and later died.

The identity of the victim is not being released until his family is notified.

Police say the suspects may have fled the scene in a gray four-door sedan.

A second shooting was reported later Tuesday. Police say an 18-year-old was shot repeatedly in the leg and arm, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Syracuse has had six shootings in the past three days.
