Federal inmate charged in death of fellow prisoner at Missouri medical facility

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri — A prisoner at a federal medical facility in Missouri has been charged in the death of a fellow inmate last month.

The U.S. Attorney's office says a grand jury indicted 43-year-old Jerry Scott Hill on Wednesday on one count of voluntary manslaughter.

The charge stems from the July 19 death of 57-year-old Cyprian Adoh at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield.

Hill is accused of pushing Adoh's head into a wall during an argument, causing fatal brain injuries.

Adoh was a former social worker and probation officer from California. He was serving a roughly six-year sentence for conspiracy to commit health care fraud.

Hill is serving a 22-year sentence from North Carolina for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
