Stanton Kidd scores 18 and Colorado State beats Northern Colorado 66-58

FORT COLLINS, Colorado — Stanton Kidd scored 18 points on 7 of 8 shooting and Colorado State topped Northern Colorado 66-58 on Sunday.

Kidd made his only 3-point attempt and all three of his free throw chances and grabbed eight rebounds. Gian Clavell and J.J. Avila added 12 points and Avila had 10 boards. Tiel Daniels chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds. The Rams (9-0) won the rebound battle 41-33, including 14 on the offensive glass.

Cody McDavis led Northern Colorado (4-3) with 10 points on 5 of 7 shooting while Jordan Wilson had eight assists.

Northern Colorado led by 11 with 5:52 left in the first, but Colorado State erased that with an 11-0 run — including seven free throws — and led 29-28 at intermission.

The Rams used an 11-2 run at the start of the second to open an eight-point lead and the Bears didn't challenge down the stretch.
