Triggerman gets life in Florence murders; prosecutors seek death for man they say ordered hit

FLORENCE, South Carolina — The 28-year-old man who prosecutors say pulled the trigger in the shooting deaths of two Florence men will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Montez Barker pleaded guilty Wednesday to murder. Authorities said he killed 26-year-old Billy Hall and 32-year-old Talya Poston in Florence County in September 2009.

Prosecutors say Fonnelze Delaine ordered the men killed because they were going to testify against him in a drug trial. He will face a possible death sentence when he stands trial later this year.

A second man, 30-year-old Laross Graham pleaded guilty to murder. He was present when the men were killed. A third man, 33-year-old Anthony Wingate, pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact for getting rid of the gun. They will be sentenced at a later date.
