Sacramento State goes to 2-0 in Big Sky for just the 2nd time, tops Southern Utah 90-75

SACRAMENTO, California — Mikh McKinney scored 21 points to lead five players in double-figure scoring as Sacramento State picked up its second Big Sky Conference win, 90-75 over Southern Utah Saturday night.

Hornets are 2-0 in the Big Sky for just the second time since joining the conference 19 years ago. Their previous 2-0 start came during the 2005-06 season. The win makes Sacramento State 8-5 overall, its best start through 13 games since 2005-06. Sacramento State now has bounced back from a stretch that saw it lose four of five games to win its last three straight.

McKinney was 8 of 12 from the field while the whole offense shot a blistering 61.3 percent. Dylan Garrity scored 18 points and dished off nine assists.

A.J. Hess scored 17 points to lead Southern Utah (3-10, 0-2), which shot a respectable 45.8 percent (27 of 59) on the road.
