GOLDEN, Colorado — A man involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a teenager in the Denver suburb of Wheat Ridge has pleaded guilty.

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office says 23-year-old Alton Kirkland pleaded guilty Tuesday to vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident in the May 2 death of 18-year-old Jordan Sprouse. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 27.

Prosecutors say Kirkland was drunk when he sped through a red light and crashed into Sprouse's car. Kirkland's girlfriend and her two young children also were in his car and were injured.

Kirkland also pleaded guilty to DUI, menacing, child abuse, assault, reckless driving and driving under restraint.
