HARLAN, Kentucky — Authorities have rescued a 74-year-old man from the mountains of Harlan County.

According to WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/18DBFnQ), Rufus White had been missing since Thursday. Rescue crews found him Saturday morning.

White's son, Rick White, said his father had fallen off a low cliff, but managed to crawl up the mountainside to a nearby home.

Family members said White is familiar with the terrain, but they were forced to call for search and rescue teams Thursday night when White never returned from hunting.

"He knows those mountains, I mean that's his life; he goes in those mountains every day," said White's daughter, Paula Clem.

White was treated for dehydration and a few bruises.
