Wyoming head coach Larry Shyatt gets 5-year extension after 3 consecutive winning seasons

LARAMIE, Wyoming — The University of Wyoming is extending the contract of men's basketball coach Larry Shyatt by five years.

Athletics Director Tom Burman on Tuesday announced the extension that will keep Shyatt on as the Cowboys' head coach through the 2018-19 season.

Starting this year, Shyatt will earn over $700,000 a year. His base salary will be $205,000 a year.

Shyatt has had three winning seasons in a row since returning as Wyoming's head coach in 2011. His overall record over four seasons with the Cowboys is 78-50.

The Pokes finished 18-15 this past season. They were 20-14 in 2012-13 and 21-12 the year before that.

Wyoming finished with a record of 19-9 when Shyatt previously was Wyoming's head coach in 1997-98.
