JACKSONVILLE, Alabama — J.J. Mann scored 19 points and Belmont shot 63 percent from the field as the Bruins blew past Jacksonville State 76-53 on Saturday leading into Ohio Valley Conference tournament play.
Chad Lang finished the first half with a 2-point tip-in for Belmont (23-8, 14-2 Ohio Valley) in capping a late surge that gave the Bruins a 43-27 advantage at the break. The lopsided play continued into the second half as Jacksonville State fell behind by as many as 25 points.
Belmont swept the series against the Gamecocks and have won 11-of-12 games going into the conference playoffs. The Bruins hold the second best shooting percentage among Division I teams at .502 percent.
Brian Williams scored 15 points for the Gamecocks.
Jacksonville State (10-21, 4-12) finished its regular season last in the OVS East Division.
