Car strikes 2 police cruisers in chase, 2 people taken into custody

WINOOSKI, Vermont — Two people have been taken into custody following a police chase in Burlington and onto Interstate 89 that ended in Winooski.

Police said the vehicle struck a wall and a cruiser in Burlington before getting onto the interstate Monday night.

The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/1reVVSo) on the interstate, the driver struck another police cruiser and lost a tire. It slowed down and took the exit into Winooski, where it crashed into a tree.

Police said there are indications that both people inside were "heavily intoxicated." They were not injured. Their names have not been released.
