State Police: Autopsy rules drowning caused death of former mayor found on beach

CLAYTON, New Jersey — New Jersey State Police say an autopsy has ruled drowning as the cause of death for a former southern New Jersey mayor whose body was found on a Jersey shore beach.

Authorities said the body of 43-year-old Jeff Radio was found on Tuesday afternoon in Strathmere. He had been reported missing to the Clayton Police Department on the same day.

Police haven't released additional details about the former Clayton mayor's death.

The Courier-Post reports that the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office in Somers Point ruled the manner of death as undetermined.

Radio served as mayor of the Gloucester County town from 2009 until 2012.

Authorities are investigating.
