Woman dies after fire breaks out at western New York home early Sunday morning

SALAMANCA, New York — Authorities say a woman has died after being pulled from a burning home in western New York.

Fire officials tell local media that the blaze was reported around 4:30 a.m. Sunday at a home in the Cattaraugus County city of Salamanca, near the Pennsylvania border 50 miles south of Buffalo.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they rescued a woman from the second floor. Officials say she was taken to Olean General Hospital, where she died a short time later.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The victim's name has not been released.
