Wisconsin unemployment rate stays at 4.6 percent in June; down from 5.4 percent a year earlier


MADISON, Wisconsin — The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development says the state's unemployment rate remained unchanged in June at 4.6 percent.

The agency released the latest preliminary figures Thursday, which were below the national unemployment rate of 5.3 percent for last month. The state's unemployment rate had gone up from 4.4 percent in April to 4.6 percent in May.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ( ) reports last month's unemployment rate for Wisconsin was below the 5.4 percent seen in the same month in 2014.
