FRESNO, California — A Central California man will spend the rest of his life behind bars following his conviction in the strangling death of his 41-year-old wife.

A Fresno County judge sentenced 37-year-old Keith Beyer on Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Beyer was also convicted in December of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl at gunpoint before killing his wife.

Authorities say Beyer tied a shoelace from one of his boots around his wife's neck in November 2012.

The Fresno Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1udZIYp ) friends and relatives of Sandra Beyer applauded after the sentence was announced.
