Former Fort Worth police chief of staff fired over drunken-driving arrest

FORT WORTH, Texas — The former chief of staff to Fort Worth Police Chief Jeff Halstead has been fired after he was accused of driving while intoxicated.

Capt. Paul Henderson had been a major in the Fort Worth Police Department until Halstead demoted him last year after his DWI arrest. Halstead announced Thursday that he was terminating Henderson from the force.

Craig Driskell, Henderson's attorney with the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he will be appealing Paul's dismissal Friday.

Henderson was off-duty last December when he was arrested in Parker County by a Texas trooper.
