NYACK, N.Y. — Officials say steps will be taken to control noise and pollution affecting communities around the new Tappan Zee (TAP'-uhn zee) Bridge.
Project officials spoke at a forum Thursday night.
The state hopes to start construction by the end of the year on the $5 billion Hudson River crossing between Rockland and Westchester counties.
Robert Conway of the environmental firm AKRF says laying the foundation for the bridge could take two years.
He says that work — especially driving steel piles — can be "incredibly loud and intrusive."
The Journal News (http://lohud.us/JgTJVS ) says insulated curtains and temporary walls will be among the solutions.
