Sengfelder's dunk sparks Fordham to 68-58 win over Monmouth (NJ) in overtime

NEW YORK — Chris Sengfelder scored 21 points, including a tie-breaking dunk in overtime, and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Fordham over Monmouth 68-58 on Wednesday night.

Sengfelder took a long defensive rebound and dribbled down the floor for his dunk that gave Fordham a 59-57 lead. The Rams (3-4) added nine free throws, including two that resulted from a technical called on the Monmouth bench.

Monmouth (4-5) trailed by as many 12 in regulation before Collin Stewart hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game at 52. His shot came after Monmouth stole an inbounds pass under the Fordham basket and called timeout with 2.5 seconds left.

Eric Paschall and Antwoine Anderson scored 15 points each and Ryan Rhoomes added 12 rebounds for the Rams. Sengfelder, a freshman from Germany, posted careers highs in getting his first double-double.

Deon Jones scored 16 points for Hawks.
