Toledo police arrest man accused in shooting at auto dealership office that left owner dead

TOLEDO, Ohio — Police in Toledo have arrested a man accused of going into an auto-sales shop at a busy intersection and shooting the owner, who died later at a hospital.

Before he died, 35-year-old Ricky Arnaz Layson told officers he didn't know the man who came into the office at R and D Auto Sales and shot him Tuesday morning.

Police says they've filed murder and aggravated robbery charges against the suspect, who's being held on $2 million bond.

Layson was the 15h homicide victim this year. Police say he was shot more than once in what might have been a robbery attempt.

The Blade newspaper reports that the shooting of Layson was one of three shootings in the city in an 18-hour period.
