SALINA, Kansas — Senior running back Riley Allen ran for 173 yards and three touchdowns to lead Buhler to a 31-14 victory over Coffeyville in Kansas' Class 4A Championship on Saturday.
The Topeka Capital-Journal (http://bit.ly/1iokvC5 ) reports that Coffeyville (12-2) started out with the lead after junior Destin Downing ran 61 yards for a touchdown on the game's second play. But then Allen ran for 54 yards on a drive that produced Buhler's first points, a 31-yard field goal by Dakota Wolf. On the Crusaders' next possession, sophomore quarterback Jace Williams connected with tight end Chase Shantz for a 57-yard touchdown that gave Buhler (13-1) its first lead at 10-6.
Allen extended the lead with a 9-yard touchdown run before halftime and a 1-yarder in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. His final touchdown was a 7-yard run with 5:43 to play.
