UPPER MARLBORO, Maryland — Prince George's County police are canvassing a neighborhood where they say a 16-year-old girl was nearly kidnapped.

Police said Friday that detectives will fan out across an Upper Marlboro neighborhood Friday as they work to identify the man who tried to kidnap the girl.

Police say the teen was walking by a basketball court on her way home Thursday evening when the man grabbed her and tried to force her into nearby woods. The girl was able to pull away from the man and flee.

The attempted abduction occurred near the 1700 block of Robert Lewis Avenue.
