Union County deputies charge 24-year-old Jonesville man with killing his father

JONESVILLE, South Carolina — Union County authorities have charged a 24-year-old Jonesville man with fatally shooting his father in the head.

Multiple media outlets report that Allen Michael Edwards is charged with murder in the death of 55-year-old Darrell Glenn Edwards Sr.

The sheriff's office says deputies responded to the father's home about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday after a neighbor called 911. The father was found on his dining room floor. He was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he died.

Allen Edwards was at the home when deputies arrived. According to the police report, deputies heard the son yelling that he'd shot his father. Their addresses are less than a half-mile apart.

No other arrests are expected. It was unclear whether Allen Edwards has an attorney.
