BARCELONA, Spain — Barcelona says defender Dani Alves has renewed his contract to play with the club for two more seasons.

The Brazil international's contract was to expire on June 30, but the club says it has been extended to the end of June 2017, with an option to add a third season.

The 32-year-old right back, who joined the team in July 2008, had said last month that negotiations were not going well.

Alves formed part of a Barcelona squad that completed the treble on Saturday by winning the Champions League.
