Obama campaign to open 9th Michigan campaign office in Grand Rapids; Romney still to open 1

LANSING, Mich. — President Barack Obama's campaign is opening its ninth Michigan campaign office, this one in Grand Rapids.

Obama for America plans to open the office Tuesday evening. It already has opened offices in southeast Michigan, Lansing and elsewhere.

Deputy political director Jason McBride said Tuesday before a Romney campaign event at Lansing Community College that a Michigan headquarters will open soon.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney won Michigan's Feb. 28 presidential primary but the Michigan native is just beginning to get its general election staff in place.

He says the Romney campaign also will work through about a dozen campaign offices Michigan Republicans will set up statewide.

Romney and Obama both plan to focus heavily on Michigan. It went for Obama in 2008; Romney's hoping for a different outcome this year.
