Injured Tennessee pass rusher Curt Maggitt likely out at least for remainder of regular season

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — Tennessee defensive end/linebacker likely will miss at least the rest of the regular season with the hip injury that has sidelined him since mid-September.

Volunteers coach said Wednesday that Maggitt's status for the rest of the season remains uncertain but added it's "a long shot" that the fifth-year senior would return before a potential bowl game. Jones said Maggitt recently underwent an MRI.

Maggitt recorded 11 sacks last season. He has three tackles for loss this season in just two games.

Jones also said reserve defensive end will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery and that offensive guard (ankle) is doubtful for Saturday's game with North Texas.

Phillips had missed two games with a shoulder injury but had returned for Tennessee's last two games.
