Billings man sentenced to 12 years in prison for fiery crash that killed woman in Lockwood

BILLINGS, Montana — A 19-year-old Billings man who pleaded guilty to negligent homicide for a fiery crash that killed his passenger and seriously injured the woman's 4-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1KCFSuh ) Damian Scott Strever was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison with eight years suspended for the April 21, 2013, death of 26-year-old Nina M. Klein, of Billings.

Prosecutors say Strever had used meth and was driving at speeds of up to 103 mph when the car went off the road in Lockwood and went airborne for about 160 feet before landing on its roof in a field and catching fire. Klein's daughter suffered a broken pelvis and head and chest injuries.
