GOLDEN SHORES, Arizona — One Japanese tourist is dead and another injured after a motorcycle crash in northwestern Arizona.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies say a group of five people from Japan rented motorcycles and the leading two riders were involved in Thursday morning's accident on Oatman Highway.

They say two motorcycles went off the roadway after failing to negotiate a turn and speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Sheriff's officials say 68-year-old Ichiroh Kobayashi was pronounced dead at the scene.

They say 63-year-old Yoshizuka Toshimitsu was airlifted to a hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

Authorities didn't immediately provide the hometowns in Japan for Kobayashi and Toshimitsu.

They say both drivers were wearing helmets and riding alone on the motorcycles.

The accident remains under investigation.
