BILLINGS, Montana — A man awaiting sentencing for a May 2012 assault at a south-central Montana cemetery is now charged with assaulting a fellow inmate at the Yellowstone County jail.
The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/ZOVYXE ) 33-year-old Timothy Holland Bennett appeared in Yellowstone County Justice Court Monday on a felony charge of aggravated assault.
Charging documents allege Bennett beat another inmate last Friday, breaking the man's jaw and causing other injuries.
Court records say Bennett told investigators he hit the man because he had been "running his mouth."
Bennett is jailed with bail set at $250,000 after he pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon for an attack on a man at the Bridger cemetery in which a shotgun was fired. Bennett was initially charged with attempted murder in that case.
