NYPD: 2 men charged after officer menaced with a knife shoots man in Brooklyn


NEW YORK — Authorities say two men have been charged after police shot a man suspected of stealing tires last week in Brooklyn.

WNBC-TV reports ( ) 26-year-old Corey Prescod and 25-year-old Arthur Whaley were charged in the June 12 incident.

Police say a plainclothes sergeant spotted the pair removing tires from a parked car in Flatbush. Authorities say Whaley was shot in the arm after he threatened the sergeant with a knife and ignored orders to drop it. He took off after the shooting.

Prescod was arrested at the scene.

Prescod is charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and related offenses. Whaley faces charges of grand larceny, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief

It's unclear whether the two men had attorneys who could comment on the charges.
