ELKRIDGE, Maryland — Police in Howard County say a motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a SUV.

Police say the crash happened Saturday just before 5 p.m. in the 5800 block of Washington Boulevard. Police say the operator of a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle was turning right to travel southbound on Washington Boulevard when it was struck by the SUV, which was traveling south on the street.

Police identified the motorcyclist as 64-year-old Gregory Trout of Jessup. Police say he was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver of the SUV was not injured and that a preliminary investigation indicates that Trout's failure to yield the right-of-way to the SUV contributed to the crash.
