Elderly couple hospitalized after being struck by car in Connecticut expected to recover

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut — Police are investigating after an elderly couple was hit by a car while crossing a street in Fairfield.

James and Jeannette Stelato were walking to a pizza shop Friday night when they were struck by the vehicle on Commerce Street. They were brought to a hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries.

WTNH-TV reports the driver of the car was also hospitalized after the accident. Police did not immediately say if the driver would face charges.

Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident to call the department.
