BILLINGS, Montana — A man has pleaded guilty in the shooting death of a woman in Billings a week after he walked away from a pre-release center last year.

The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1O9sqQU) that 31-year-old John Edward Szydlowski entered his plea to a deliberate homicide charge Friday in Yellowstone County District Court.

Szydlowski told District Judge Russell Fagg that he shot 22-year-old Kayla Kinder on March 22. Kinder died the day after she was shot.

Szydlowski's plea agreement with prosecutors recommends a 75-year prison sentence for the shooting and five years for other charges that include felony escape for walking away from the Billings Pre-Release Center.

A sentencing hearing has been set for April 12.
