Rhode Island man dies when his car goes out of control on I-495 in Massachusetts

HOPKINTON, Massachusetts — Massachusetts State Police have released the name of the Rhode Island man who died in a weekend crash on Interstate 495 in Hopkinton.

Police on Sunday identified the victim of the Saturday afternoon crash as 24-year-old Makthra Men of Cranston, Rhode Island.

Investigators say Men's northbound vehicle was traveling in the middle lane at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday when it went out of control, striking both left side and right side guardrails.

A tractor-trailer behind Men's car attempted to slow down and avoid it, but ended up making contact.

Men was taken to a Worcester hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

The cause remains under investigation.
