MILFORD, Delaware — Delaware State Police say a woman is dead and a man is injured after a Jeep Cherokee crashed in Milford.

Police say 39-year-old Melissa Perez failed to negotiate a curve in a Jeep Cherokee on Cedar Beach Road on Sunday afternoon and the vehicle traveled 600 or more feet through a soybean field, hit utility pole and overturned.

Melissa Perez of Wyoming, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene and her passenger, 30-year-old James Perez of Dover was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police say neither was properly restrained.
