Police arrest suspect in shooting death of a Tempe man at his apartment after home invasion

TEMPE, Ariz. — A suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of a Tempe man at his apartment last week.

Tempe police announced Tuesday that 41-year-old Jose Hernandez was booked into jail on several charges including suspicion of first-degree murder.

They say Hernandez was taken into custody after he was released from a hospital. He was injured in the crash of a stolen car.

Police say Hernandez is suspected in the shooting death of 52-year-old Charles Roselli.

Hernandez and another suspect allegedly committed a home invasion at the victim's apartment on May 9. That led to a shooting and police say Roselli died at a hospital two days later.

Police say the other suspect is unidentified and remains at large.
