NOBELBORO, Maine — Police say a Nobleboro woman ran over her boyfriend with her car because she caught him trying to sexually assault her 12-year-old niece.

The woman, 53-year-old Linda Currier, and her boyfriend, 48-year-old James Oliver, are both facing charges in connection with what police are calling a domestic disturbance Saturday night.

Police say it started when Currier walked in on Oliver, a registered sex offender, trying to assault the girl.

They got into a fight, and outside, she struck Oliver with her car. Oliver was taken to the hospital with a leg injury.

Currier was charged with drunken driving and aggravated assault. Oliver faces charges including attempted sexual assault. He is being held in jail.

The girl was not injured.

It could not be determined if Currier and Oliver have lawyers.
