SPARTANBURG, South Carolina — Chattanooga quarterback Jacob Huesman was selected the Southern Conference offensive player of the year in separate voting by league coaches and media on Tuesday.
Huesman, a senior, became the first in league history to win coach's award three straight seasons. This was his second consecutive honor from SoCon media.
Citadel coach Mike Houston won coach of the year honors from both groups, while Samford receiver Kelvin McKnight took the freshman of the year award from the coaches and media.
Furman linebacker Cory Magwood was the media's defensive player of the year. Citadel defensive lineman Mitchell Jeter was the coach's choice for top defensive player.
Chattanooga offensive lineman Corey Levin won the Jacobs Blocking Award, given out by the coaches, for a second straight season.
