TEMPE, Arizona — A woman sought on a felony warrant has non-life threatening injuries after being shot and wounded by Phoenix police officers in Tempe.

The shooting occurred Monday evening in a parking lot after Phoenix police followed 31-year-old Alyce Garcia from east-central Phoenix.

According to Tempe police Lt. Mike Pooley, the Phoenix officers fired at the woman after she pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the officers when they attempted to make contact with her.

Upon seeing the firearm, officers began moving back and fired several rounds at Garcia.

Police say Garcia was still in a hospital being treated for her injuries Tuesday.

They say no police officers were injured.
