GLASGOW, Scotland — A consortium backed by fans has submitted a revised bid to buy Rangers, leaving administrators controlling the financially stricken Scottish club to mull over two offers.
The group withdrew its original offer two weeks ago but is now in direct competition with American businessman Bill Miller to take over the Glasgow club, which was forced to enter bankruptcy protection in February.
The "Blue Knights" consortium now includes the owner of Sale Sharks rugby union team, Brian Kennedy, who previously considered submitting a separate bid for the club he supported since his childhood.
Miller, chairman of a Tennessee-based towing and recovery equipment company, is reported to have made a bid worth 11.2 million pounds ($18.2 million).
